Creek Bed Remediation

Exceeding customer expectations is part of the Rain for Rent Mission Statement. When a complex job is on the table, Rain for Rent does not just throw out a quote; rather, they perform a job walk and evaluate the customer's challenge in order to create a solution that uniquely fits the specific job. This personal touch, along with a comprehensive quote, set Rain for Rent apart from the competition when a major waste management company sought a solution for their creek bed remediation project.

With the project out to bid, Rain for Rent visited the remediation site to ensure that a solution was developed to specifically meet the needs of the customer. While discussing the project with the waste management company, Rain for Rent offered suggestions regarding pump placement, sound attenuation, and pipe placement.

The waste management company awarded the job to Rain for Rent. The scope included excavation, contaminated soil removal, and a storm drain bypass. The project was split onto two adjacent project sites. One part of the system was designed to handle an 86 MGD flow, while the second part of the system was created to handle a 10 MGD flow.

To bypass over 2,000 feet of creek bed, Rain for Rent deployed their SWAT (Sewer and Water A-Team) to install over 10,000 feet of 18-inch pipe to provide a 40,000 GPM flow capacity with 20,000 GPM flow redundancy. Four DV-400 16-inch and two DV-300i 12-inch Power Prime™ pumps managed the 86 MGD flow.

The SWAT team also installed the 10 MGD system to bypass a storm drain that drained into the remediation site. On this part of the project one DV-150 6-inch and one DV-200 8-inch Power Prime™ pump pumped the storm water through a 12-inch discharge pipe and road crossing to the main pump station.

Although Rain for Rent was not geographically the closest solution, we won the job by providing the most unique and comprehensive solution, along with a personal commitment that exceeded the customer's expectations.
