For
the second year in a row, Rain for Rent, Hopewell, Virginia, was contacted
to provide a pump capable of 600 GPM for a water fountain to be used at the
Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennessee. Having seen photos from
last year's event, the Rain for Rent sales representative knew that this was
more than just a pumping job. “When you have 90,000 people at a three-day,
outdoor music festival in the deep South in the middle of June, it's going
to rain, it's going to get muddy, and the fans will definitely get in touch
with the elements.”
During the last event, the fountain had pumped muddy red water that was
re-circulated from a 4,000 gallon reservoir. To reduce the turbidity of the
muddy water, Rain for Rent personnel suggested
treating the water with a
natural polymer to create clean water for the event. A closed-loop system,
consisting of a small pump, a polymer meter and pipe was connected to the
reservoir which was connected to a sand media filter.
The contractor added chlorine injection to the 6-inch DV-150 pump to complete the water treatment system. Visibly clean water was pumped through the fountain during the three-day festival, creating exciting and visually-stimulating special effects for the festival.
